Recipe: Lavender Breeze

Last month, we were thrilled to be included in the Exploratorium Showcase. It's one of our favorite venues, and it's in such a beautiful setting on the Bay. We decided to introduce a drink that captures the essence of spring and the calmness of a gentle breeze - the Lavender Breeze.

This delightful Mocktail, with its floral notes and refreshing zest, became an instant favorite, so we decided we have to share the recipe with our friends! Whether you're hosting a brunch, looking for a relaxing evening sip, or simply want to enjoy a beautiful drink that looks as good as it tastes, the Lavender Breeze is your go-to recipe. And for those who enjoy a bit more kick, it easily transforms into a dangerously delicious cocktail.

Ingredients for Lavender Breeze Mocktail:

  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1 oz ultra blue lavender syrup

  • Fever Tree club soda, to top

  • Lemon wheel, for garnish

To make it a cocktail, add:

  • 1.5 oz of your favorite spirit (Vodka or Gin recommended)

Directions:

  1. In a highball glass filled with ice, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and ultra blue lavender syrup.

  2. Top it off with Fever Tree club soda, stirring gently to mix the flavors.

  3. Garnish with a lemon wheel to add an extra touch of elegance and freshness.

Transforming Your Mocktail into a Cocktail:

For those occasions that call for something a bit stronger, simply add 1.5 oz of your preferred spirit to the mix. Vodka or gin are our top picks for a beautifully balanced cocktail that enhances the floral and citrus notes of the Lavender Breeze.

Crafting the Ultra Blue Lavender Syrup:

Creating this syrup is easier than you think and it’s what gives the Lavender Breeze its signature flavor and beautiful hue. Our secret is our Ultra Blue Lavender that we source from a small farm in Oregon.

Ingredients:

  • 0.5 liter water

  • 0.5 liter sugar

  • 1/2 cup ultra blue lavender

Directions:

  1. Bring water to a soft boil in a medium saucepan.

  2. Add sugar, stirring until it's completely dissolved.

  3. Simmer and wait for the mixture to clarify, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. Turn off the heat and stir in the lavender. Cover with a lid and let it steep for 5 minutes.

  5. Strain the mixture using a cheesecloth or a coffee filter. Refrigerate until chilled.

This syrup will yield about 1 liter and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months, ready to add a splash of color and taste to any drink.

The Lavender Breeze mocktail (and its cocktail best friend) offers a delightful blend of flavors that are perfect for any occasion. Its approachable, yet complex flavors make it a hit among all kinds of guests. So, the next time you’re looking to impress your guests or simply treat yourself, remember the Lavender Breeze is just a mix away.
